Oakland Park – The Friends of the Ethel M. Gordon Oakland Park Library will hold its Used Book Sale Friday, May 13 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and May 14, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the library, 1298 NE 37 St. A wide selection of books, CD’s and DVD’s are available. All proceeds benefit the library.
Pompano Beach – Health screenings for cardiovascular disease, osteoporosis, diabetes, and other chronic, serious conditions will be provided by Life Line Screening on May 10 at Assumption Catholic Church, 2001 S. National Day of Prayer

Summer Camp Registration
Deerfield Beach – The Parks and Recreation Department is now accepting summer camp registration for residents of Deerfield Beach. An eight-week camp is planned for children ages 6 through 12 at Constitution Park, 2841 W. Hillsboro Blvd., and Oveta McKeithen Recreational Complex, 445 SW 2 St. Campers will enjoy field trips, arts and crafts, archery, swimming, Fun Fridays and more. Camps are Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., June 13 through August 5. An extended camp is available August 8 to 12 at Oveta McKeithen only. Community Bus Extends Saturday Routes
Deerfield Beach – Effective May 7, Community Express II route will be added to Saturday service, 8 a.m. to noon. and 1 to 4 p.m. The service is currently offered by Community Express I and II, Mondays through Fridays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Express I on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 to 4 p.m. The addition of Express II puts another shuttle into service. Healthy Kids Day
Fort Lauderdale – The L.A. Lee YMCA/Mizell Community Center, 1409 NW Sistrunk Blvd., will host Healthy Kids Day April 30, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. The free event includes fun activities, including family yoga, Zumba, boot camp, a one-mile fun run, sports demonstrations, kids drum fitness, youth and teen athletic training demonstrations and more.
City Offers Nonprofit Sponsorship Opportunities
Pompano Beach – City officials will be accepting online nonprofit sponsorship requests from April 4 until May 6 for Fiscal Year 2022-2023. Applications will be accepted from nonprofit organizations that provide services/programs that are beneficial to the residents of the city and expand the services the city is currently not in a position to provide to the residents. Honor Flight South Florida has scheduled four charter flights to Washington, D.C. in 2022. During the flights – April, May, September, and October – World War II, Korea, and Vietnam veterans are escorted for free to the nation’s capital by a guardian.
