Pompano Beach – Standing Room Only Productions returns to the stage next month with the Neil Simon comedy “Last of the Red Hot Lovers” – a twisted tale featuring a man’s struggling efforts to have a successful affair.

The play, April 21, 6 p.m. at Galuppi’s, 1103 N. Federal Hwy., stars Todd Vittum as Barney Cashman, a dependable married man who develops a taste for the wild side.

But Barney’s romantic pursuits, Elaine Navazio, Bobbi Michele, and Jeanette Fisher, played by

Cathy Rollins, Jeanne Gray, and Patricia Stansel respectively, are not as easy as he was hoping for. Elaine, Bobbi, and Jeanette come with layers of baggage revealed throughout the play, making the passionate love affair he has been craving extremely challenging.

As Barney attempts to connect on a deeper level with his “affairs,” he must decipher if he will cave to the internal struggle between his morals and desires.

As for the actors, many talented minds came together to recreate this iconic Broadway play. Vittum, Rollins, Gray, and Stansel poured much of themselves into the production and have been embodying their roles to give the audience more of a perspective into the complexity of their characters.

Vittum is an award-winning script writer who has led and directed other Standing Room Only plays. He’s passionate about his craft and constantly searching within for the next idea that will take the stage. Rollins, creator of Standing Room Only, has taken part in many plays as a director and done many TV and radio interviews with celebrities. Gray also has her fair share of experience in the spotlight, as an accomplished stage producer, theatrical coach, playwright, and vocalist. Stansel is a successful professional dance artist trained in ballet, tap, and jazz. She has also participated in many improv pieces and handles her roles with flair.

To RSVP, call 954-791-7555. The $55 ticket price includes dinner. Standing Room Only Productions is a New Pelican advertiser.
